Be Thankful

If I looked at my life a year ago and saw what was ahead for me in 2014 I would put a caution sign: WARNING!!

When they say everyday is a gift.. they're not lying. I've lost loved ones this year, been through emotional heartache, terrible accidents, and life struggles.  As this last month of 2014 comes upon us, it should be months of happiness, joy, unity, and peace. Though, this isn't guaranteed.
In fact, nothing is guaranteed. Just when things seem to be going right, God hits you with another curve ball... see if you can handle this.
Our struggles can make us or break us. With so many unexpected events, it can be easy to break. Yes, it would be easier to break....
DON'T
Sometimes the positive things in life are hidden by the negative things. We must remember the positive to get us through the negative.
I am blessed to have been able to travel to 3 different countries, have an amazing birthday, and began to transform my way of thinking.
After each positive event this year, ironic enough, something terrible happens. Life is a rollercoaster, I now understand that.
As I continue to grow as a person, I'm sure my life will be filled with many more happy and sad times.
I refuse to let the sad have dominance over me.
Remember that there is a vast world before you.  Don't get trapped in your own.

Time Flies

August? Already? Where did summer go? Summer is my favorite season. I love everything about it- warm nights, lightning bugs, fruity drinks, and swimming in clear water. Too bad it seems to be the shortest season around here..
This year has brought many changes and new experiences. From traveling 3 different countries to losing a loved one. I'm so thankful for the lessons I have learned and how much I have grown as a person. Things may not always go as we want or expect them too, but we must remember, God has a plan for us.

It's true that you tell the people you love everyday that you love them. This is especially hard for me because I'm not a very affectionate person.. but atleast make sure they know how much they mean to you! Spend as much time as you can with those close to you. Talk about their childhood, experiences, dreams, life lessons, ask them questions! I will never forget the things my mawmaw taught me & how she shaped who I am as a person. I'm so thankful I got to spend the time with her I did! I'm most definitely the most like her out of her grandchildren.. we had a special bond. So many memories that mean SOOO much to me... now I know she is in a better place, with all the people she always talked about, and of course, with God.

Those memories will forever reside in my heart. I was blessed to have such a extremely loving, classy, thoughtful grandmother! RIP mawmaw Lynn. <3

Wake up everyday and consciously make an effort to make it the best day you can. When things get tough, always keep hope, because without it, we have nothing.

Breaking into Fashion & Modeling

I'm dead set on starting my career early. That's the great thing about loving your job, you will be motivated to wake up everyday knowing that you are perusing your dreams. Living in a small town is not easy when it comes to wanting to gain experience in a field that doesn't have an influence on your community. Sure, I could be a doctor, a teacher, or a lawyer.. but if I don't LOVE it, then what's the point? I'm not going to spend everyday doing something I hate.
I've been reaching out to people in the fashion industry, hoping to get advice on how I can get a head start on my career. How can I do this..being in high school...in a small town? I sent in my question to Nikki Phillippi.. I love her! She is so real & I value what she says. I'm so happy she answered my question. Although, I mentioned my blog in my message, I suppose they overlooked it.. many people in the comments say to start a blog.. haha. One step ahead.
I'm planning on going to college at FIT in NYC to be a fashion stylist. If any of you know someone or have went to college for fashion please contact me! I would love to hear all about it!
Well, I must be doing pretty good then.. I'm connecting with those who share my passion, reaching out to those already in the business, and have my future planned. Everything Nikki suggested.. That makes me feel a little bit better. :)

Watch to see Nikki answer my question.

Let me know your thoughts/suggestions. Are you planning on a career in fashion?
If you watched the video or have read my previous posts, I'm also trying to get into modeling.. Anyone have experience?

Unexpected Opportunities

Being a very determined and motivated person is great! Although when things don't work out the way I want them to...I get discouraged. Being young and feeling "stuck" or "lost" in the world surrounded by people who seem to have the "perfect, desirable" life is not fun. Especially when you live in a small town like I do. I always struggle finding ways to do the things I love. It really brings me down, but I just have to remember that God has his way of making everything fall into place at just the right time!
For years everyone has said I should model. Of course I would love to model! Wearing top brands, shopping in high fashion boutiques, traveling the world, trying new foods, experiencing different cultures, meeting new people, capturing the hidden side of you in the camera lens...the list goes on.. it's everything I love!
I recently sent my pictures into a modeling contest for Seventeen magazine to win a photoshoot & shopping spree in NYC. If you know me, you know that New York City is MY city.  Haha.. even though I've never been there, I guarantee I would love it! Surprisingly enough, I got a call from the modeling agency hosting the contest. WHAT?! Yes...for soooo many years I've been dreaming of getting the opportunity to do what I love! I never would have guessed that someone would have called, wanting me to come into their office! But they did! I'm not saying I don't have faith in myself, but I wasn't expecting it. I'm so excited to go their office in the spring for an interview... I can see myself now.. living the life I've always wanted!
I'm one of those people that read inspirational quotes and interviews of successful people who have said "I started off just like you..."  You don't think anything good ever happens to you.. just remember...you'll have your time. Trust in yourself, trust in God, and everything will fall into place. I know it's not easy! Just remember to enjoy the ride, because once you get to the destination you'll wonder where time went.  Never give up!!!

A New Journey

I have loved fashion for as long as I can remember. As I grew, my love for fashion as grew also! I always look at pictures on pinterest or instragram of the way people present themselves to the world! I realized that most of these pictures I admire are from fashion bloggers! I don't know why I didn't realize this sooner. So here I am, starting a blog. Not only about fashion & style, but about photography, travel, food, and maybe even health. Whatever I decide to talk about.
It's always been hard finding people that are similar to me.. I want to connect with people who share the same interests as me and makes friends! I'm hoping this will become something bigger, but for right not I'm just rolling with the waves. ;)
